Etihad feats travel agents

UAE: Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates recently hosted the first ever awards night in recognition of travel agents who had performed admirably during the year 2005.

'Altitude with Etihad' took light at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo amidst a gathering of dignitaries, invitees and Sri Lanka's top travel agents.

The event, a unique concept in its own right, showcased Etihad's originality, tireless effort and attention to detail that ensured all their guests enjoyed a delightful evening.

A practice that has seen them win the accolade as the world's leading new airline in their short but successful stint in existence. Guests were initially treated to cocktails as they waited to board flight EY 202.

Once inside the programme rolled along smoothly with the entertainers taking centre stage. Even this had Etihad's originality written all over it. Etihad used music and dance to introduce guests to some of the airlines present and future destinations.

The highlight of the evening the presentation of awards and in true Etihad style it was done with a difference.

The presentation party that included Charles Phelps-Penry-Regional General Manager, Asia pacific, Kumar de Silva Area Manager-Sri Lanka & Maldives and Kaminga de Zoysa-Sales Manager emerged from within the aircraft which formed the backdrop inside the hall.

Having made their grand entrance they were ready to give away the elegant awards which symbolised the three zones offered by Etihad Airways; Diamond, Pearl and Coral.

Winners were than called up on stage from where they had to make their way up the stairway to the door of the aircraft to accept their award.
