CCC unit to assist members in trade fairs, exhibitions
TRADE PROMOTION: The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) recognising the
importance of trade fairs, exhibitions and missions in global business,
has set up a specialised unit 'CCC - Trade Fem Unit' in 2002, to assist
members in enhancing and strengthening their trade ties between Sri
Lanka and other overseas markets.
The objective of this unit is to facilitate and assist its members
and the Sri Lankan business community to expand and enhance their
overseas business links by participating at Trade Fairs/Exhibitions and
Trade Promotion Missions.
The unit organised 'IMEXPRO 2006' an international trade fair from
March 16 to 18, 2006 which attracted many overseas visitors.
This resulted in the exhibitors establishing useful local and
overseas contacts.
In addition to this, the Unit also initiated Trade and Investment
Promotion Missions to Libya and Tunisia, Czech Republic and Romania and
Austria/Slovak Republic and Slovenia during 2005, which were a
tremendous success.
The CCC - TRADE FEM UNIT aims at offering opportunities to its
members to explore potential emerging markets by organising trade and
investment promotion/fact-finding missions.
In this regard the Unit has drawn-up the calendar of events for
2006/07 covering Thailand and Myanmar (June 12 to 18), Singapore and
Vietnam (August 7 to 12), South Africa - to coincide with SAITEX 2006
(South African International Trade Exhibition, October 9 to 15), Saudi
Arabia and Oman (January/February 2007).
In addition to the above, the Unit is expected to handle over seven
inbound missions, an Economic Summit and a symposium. |
