Big entries for Radella Hill Climb

HILL CLIMB: This year's Radella Hill Climb which is to take place
today has attracted the highest number of entries. A total of 149 riders
and drivers are billed to compete in different categories, according
Rodney Mason the spokesman for SLARDAR the organisers of the event.
The Radella Hill Climb which is the second stage of the SLARDAR
championship will see all leading drivers and riders vying for national
championship compete for supremacy.
Super car event has the highest number of drivers (21) in fray.
Aravinda Premadasa last year's champion driver will face still
competition from Dinesh Deheragoda, Feroz Omar, Reyaz Farook, Nalin D.
Perera, Nishan Wasalathanthri, young Janaka Dias, Romani de Silva,
Shantha Suraweera, Mahinda Premaratne and Sajitha Wedisinghe. Most of
them are behind the wheels of Mitsubishis.
The Ford Formula category too is expected to produce a thrilling
affair with veterans Rohan de Silva, Romani de Silva, Rizvie Farook,
Ravi Mayadunne, Harsha de Silva, Buddhika de Silva, Susantha Gunewardena
and the only lady Formula driver Shehara Jayawardene ready to burn their
tyres on this 900 metre course to have the best timing which decides the
winner.
The other championship events, one-make cars Ford Laser / Mazda 10-12
kg category too will be hotly contested with experts in these category
Nishan Wasalathanthri, Susantha Gunewardene and Upulwan Serasinghe in
the fray.
All in all a very interesting hill climb could be witnessed by the
spectators who make their way to Nuwara Eliya for the festive season. |
