Cambodian link with LTTE revealed as three held for arms smuggling
CAMBODIA: The recent arrest of three Cambodians for smuggling
shoulder - launched anti tank missiles has revealed that the Liberation
Tigers of Tamil Eelam along with other military outfits in South Asia
were supplied with arms from Cambodia.
An AFP datelined report quoting a court official from Cambodia said
yesterday three Cambodians had been charged with smuggling
shoulder-launched anti tank missiles.
"We charged them and the investigation is under way," said Phnom Penh
municipal court prosecutor Uk Savuth after the three men were arrested
last week in a village just outside the capital.
Cambodia, awash with weaponry after almost three decades of war, has
been accused of being a major source of illegal arms sold to rebel
groups across Asia including the LTTE and militants in Indonesia.
