Rangana - Udumbara Rangabhisheka
dance debut in Melbourne
DANCE: Rangana Ratnatunga and Udumbara Ratnatunga will present
Rangabhiksheka dance debut at Alexandra Theatre Monash University,
Australia on April 2.

Rangana is an old boy of D.S. Senanayaka Vidyalaya and a graduate of
the University of Peradeniya.
He holds a postgraduate degree in Professional Accounting and MBA
from Deakin University of Melbourne. He is also a traditional up -
country dancer and drummer. He is the eldest son of well-known dance and
folk song artists Nanda Ratnatunga and R.M. Ratnatunga.
Udumbara is an old girl of Devi Balika Vidyalaya. She holds a
Bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Kelaniya. She also
has a postgraduate degree in choreography from the University of
Melbourne. She is a traditional up - country Sabaragamu and Indian
dancer. She is a former visiting lecturer in dance at Performing Arts
Dept, University of Colombo.
Udumbara is the younger daughter of well-known playwright, director
and translator S. Karunarathna and Anula Karunarathna.
After a rigorous training for three years, Rangana and Udumbara duo
will present their debut performance with their students in Melbourne.
Rangabhisheka dance performance is a combination of professional Sri
Lankan authentic classical dance and Indian dance. |
