Award for Daily News

COLOMBO: The Daily News has won the "Parisara Prabodhani Sammanaya" awarded by the National Namal Uyana Conservation and Development Foundation.

The presentation of the "Parisara Prabodhani Award" for media sponsorship to conserve the National Namal Uyana encompassing the Pink Quartz Mountain Range will be held at Temple Trees under Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake's patronage on Monday at 2.00 p.m.

The presentation of the Award marks the 15th Anniversary since the introduction of the mountain range to the nation.

The award ceremony is organised under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapakse, Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Maha Nayaka Thera, Chief Sangha Nayaka of the Asgiriya Chapter of Siam Maha Nikaya will participate. Several other print and electronic media institutions will receive awards and certificates at the ceremony.

The launching of the book 'Moragaha Uda Peraliyen Janitha Wuna Jathika Namal Uyana Sahitha Rosa Thirivana Kandu Wetiya' written by Ven. Sigiriye Dhammajothi Thera and presentation of prizes and certificates to winners of the All Island School and Pirivena Essay Competition will also be held.
