Mohan Sudusinghe is a dancer. Having grown up with a passion for
dancing, he is conversant with traditional as well as contemporary forms
of oriental and western dance. He has dedicated his life to dancing and
built up a name for himself as a professional dancer and choreographer
for over fifteen years.
A product of D.S. Senanayake College, Mohan realised his life's
ambition, the promotion of traditional dances, when he created the Lak
Uruma Art Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving our indigenous
dances and cultural heritage.
A knee injury which forced a short pause in his dancing career, gave
Mohan time to take up painting seriously.
Being closely associated with dance, Mohan's paintings mainly
comprise sculptural collages with images of dancers and instruments.
A self taught artist, Mohan enjoys working with "mixed media" using
acrylic, paper, cloth, wire, gum etc. It appears from his work, that
Mohan views the world through the eyes of the dancer within. According
to Mohan, "rhythm links dance with painting", hence the title 'rhythmic
lines'.
A painter with a style of his own, he is gifted with a strong
sensitivity to design and colour, which gives his work a rare
distinction. Mohan has already successfully held three exhibitions of
his paintings in Sri Lanka. |
