US reassures support for truce talks

COLOMBO: The US Government's has pledged its fullest support towards the second round of truce talks to be held in Celigny next month. This assurance was made by US ambassador Jeffrey Lunstead at a meeting with Healthcare and Nutrition Minister and Leader of the Government Delegation for truce talks, Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The Ambassador appreciated the Government's effort in giving a new leaf of life to the peace process which stagnated for four years and expressed satisfaction over the successful outcome of the first round of talks held in Geneva.

Minister de Silva assured that the ceasefire talks would have a new face with the thoughts and ideas of all parties representing and opposing the Government, put into it.

He said that all parties represented in the Parliament as well as other parties were invited for the All Party Conference. They had agreed to put aside all differences and join hands with the Government's effort to bring peace to the country.
