'Women should be provided every opportunity to achieve economic and
social development'
PRINCIPAL of Leeds College, London Mrs. S. Sivalingam states: As a
women who has experience in a career working in an international area, I
have realized the difficulties of women and aspirations of the women in
the West. I am happy to say that women in our country are educated and
highly literate.
"We are proud to announce that Sri Lanka boasts of the first ever
women Prime Minister of the world and later a woman Executive President.
I take this opportunity to pledge the Sri Lankan women to grant any
assistance, especially to improve professionally.
Sri Lankan Women, the majority of whom devote their whole life
selflessly to the well-being of the family should be provided with every
opportunity to achieve economic and social development. Only then, will
they be able to gain self-esteem which is so essential to self-fulfilment.
I am pleased to hear that the Consumer Affairs Authority has planned
to launch general programmes to ameliorate the economic and social
conditions of women". |
