Death of Nanda Gunasinghe
GALLE: Former MP and a Senior Southern Provincial Council Member
Nanda Gunasinghe 62 expired on March 2 while he was being treated at the
Karapitiya Hospital.
He was formerly a school teacher who joined the Sri Lanka Freedom
Party in 1990 and became the SLFP Habaraduwa chief organiser.
He entered Parliament at the 1994 General Election representing the
Galle District and served in that capacity till 2001. Gunasinghe later
entered the Southern Provincial Council as a Provincial Councillor and
he was serving the people at the time of his death.
He was a former Chairman of the Dhakshina Sanwardena Adhikariya
(Southern Development Authority) and a Director of the Water Board.
The cremation was held. March 5, at Sumangala Grounds, Kala Eliya. |
