Professional baking courses from Prima

BAKERY TRADE: Prima Baking Training Centre, a leading educational centre for the baking industry offers intensive programmes for those who interested in baking in Sri Lanka.

The programme includes a comprehensive study of baking with emphasis on hands-on application of fundamental ingredients and techniques.

Principal of the Prima Baking Training Centre Ranjan Amarasinghe said that courses comprising of Baking Industrial level three and two, Diploma in Baking, Advanced Baking, Fundamentals in Baking , Cake Decoration and Customised courses provide students to a range of advanced skills in all three areas of bread, pastry and cakes.

He said that the aim is to provide students a pastry cooks, bakery enthusiast to further develop fundamental skills and techniques with the knowledge in giving them basic baking and trade experience. This is a good opportunity for those who would like to pursue a career in baking as pastry chefs.

He said that the bakers have a big demand in the hotel industry. Salary scales of the baker ranges from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 600,000 in the international market.

"Our target groups are school leavers, housewives and customers. This will develop new recruitments in the hotel industry. "We train students who would like to migrate and the training provides easy access for them in employing at the international hotel industry.

To develop local baking industry, the centre helps students to start their own business. Bakery owners also expect to be trained to provide good management knowledge.

The centre has modern baking workshop equipped with the latest technology including class rooms, demonstration room, kitchen and the library to facilitate hands on training in the bakery. Syllabuses have been prepared to international standards and well trained foreign and local experts conduct classes.

Students are limited to 25 per class and internationally recognised certificates are awarded," he said.
