Random checks on official residences of Divisional Secretaries

COLOMBO: Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Dr.Sarath
Amunugama has made it compulsory that the Divisional Secretaries who
have official residences live in them and the Ministry would conduct
random checks to find out whether they occupy the official residences.
The lack of residences for Divisional Secretaries cause
inconveniences to the public who seek their services.
Ministry sources revealed that there are about 121 official
residences for Divisional Secretaries in and new ones would be built if
there is lack of accommodation facilities.
In addition money would be provided to the Divisional Secretaries for
the renovation of the residences. Dr. Amunugama has advised the
officials to take steps to construct new houses.
Ministry sources added that attention has been paid to the abandoned
government houses and looking in to the possibility of converting them
as official residences under Ministry's supervision. |
