More Chinese co-operation for business in WP

MOU: The Sri Lanka-China Business Cooperation Council (SLCBCC)
entered into an MoU with Western Province Industrial Development
Authority at the National Chambers of Commerce auditorium.
Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, Women's Affairs, Fisheries, Rural
Industries, Rural Development and Rural Institutions, Housing and
Construction of the Western Province, Gamini Thilakasiri, Secretaries
(Economic and Commercial) of the Embassy of China in Sri Lanka Mi Liqin
Chen Feng, and the NCCSL President Nirmali Samaratunge were present.
SLCBCC President Nihal Mallikaarachchi, and Chairman of the IDA (WP)
Vasantha Jayasinghe, signed the agreement on behalf of the two
institutions, SLCBCC Vice President was also present.
SLCBCC established in 1994, promotes and strengthens the trade and
economic ties between Sri Lanka and China.
The Council provides a forum where trade chambers and entrepreneurs
of the two countries could discuss and solve problems affecting the
bi-lateral trade and promote bi-lateral and multilateral trade and
commercial activities.
The Council disseminates information to entrepreneurs and others from
both countries and help them source suppliers and markets from and for
the counterparts.
The agreement will establish closer cooperation between SLCBCC and
IDA (WP), and stimulate business ties with China, especially in finding
potential collaborators for small and medium scale industrial projects
in the Western Province to induce modern technologies.
They shall jointly organise exhibitions, conferences, delegation and
trade missions, and source from China, machinery, material, and
technologies, for the benefit of small and medium-scale industrialists
in the Western Province for the purpose. |
