Growth in local ship building
SHIP BUILDING: The local ship building and repair industry is
growing and more international ships prefer to repair their vessels in
Colombo as Sri Lankans are adopting new machinery in par with new repair
technology says Kiran Attapattu Chairman, Colombo Engineering.
The Colombo Engineering too have increased their output and recently
engaged in several internal vessels. These included the major steel
repair on M/V Weng of the Netherlands, Underwater repair of M/V Hindu at
Galle, repair of Lloyds class under water Surkey on M/V Durumata and
under water Surveey on M/V Feeder Four and many other similar vessels.
The company Chairman, Attapattu, also won six top business awards in
just 80 days from 28 October 2005 to 18 January for the their services.
The Company first won an award in 1993 when Attapattu was crowned as the
most outstanding young person of Sri Lanka. |
