Forget differences to achieve peace and prosperity

MATARA: People should extend their unreserved co-operation to
President Mahinda Rajapakse forgetting all differences, said the Chief
Incumbent of Polhena Purana Viharaya and the Secretary of the Matara
Sasanaraksaka Bala Mandalaya Ven. Sasthravedi Panditha, Ehalape
Yasarathana thera, delivering an anusasana to commemorate the 58th
anniversary of regaining Independence.
Present leader of the country belongs to a bold and heroic family of
Ruhuna, he is a sincere lover of his country, therefore we could expect
much from him for this country in restoration of peace and upgrading the
economy.
Function was held at Bodiya Premises - Matara Religious ceremonies
were conducted by the Chief Incumbent monk of Paththarama Viharaya
Pahala Peakwella, Matara and Chief Sanganayaka of the division of Matara
Ven Urumutte Somarathana Nayaka Thera.
This commemoration rally was jointly organized by Matara District
Secretariat and Divisional Secretariat office. The thera said in March
2, 1815 our motherland became a British colony.
Chief Incumbent of Isipathanarama Ven. Sasthravedi Talahagama
Gnanarathana Thera said, Independence gained is not meaningful, if we do
not achieve remarkable progress in the spheres of economy and culture.
People are living in suspicion and fear because of the internal
conflicts prevailing in the country.
Ven. Walasgala Pannasiri Thera of Sri Mangala Pirivena Matara said,
Sri Lanka though gained independence during the close periods of times
as India, Sri Lanka is far behind to India in the fields of economical
and cultural attainments.
Matara district Secretary Gamini Jayasekara and President of Matara
Bodhi Araksaka Sabha S. K. Chandrasoma also present on the occasion. |
