A Vesak week has been declared by the Ministry of Education from May 9-15. Ariyaratne Hewage, Secretary Ministry of Education has instructed in a circular to all Heads of schools, pirivenas and colleges of Education.

It has been emphasized that every student should be encouraged to attend Dhamma Schools and special religious programmes should be carried out at school level on every Fullmoon Poyaday with the assistance of school teachers and parents with effect from this year.
