SLT powers Softlogic with IP VPN

SLT AGREEMENT: Sri Lanka Telecom, signed an agreement recently with Abacus International Lanka Pvt Ltd, which is a joint venture between Softlogic Holdings Pvt Ltd and Abacus International, to link travel agents using SLTs advanced Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN) technology.

The agreement was signed between SLT CEO Shuhei Anan and Chairman, Softlogic Holdings Pvt Ltd. Ashoka Pathirage.

Due to expanding global travel, reservation services providers want to save costs of upgrading their networks while at the same time maximizing security and convenience. Therefore, SLTs IP VPN technology will deliver both network cost savings and real business benefits and also enables the travel agents to link all offices, remote workers and mobile employees ensuring shared information in a cost effective and secure environment.

SLTs IP VPN will be the solution that produces the desired cost savings while maintaining the required network security and remote access, CEO, SLT Shuhei Anan said.

The IP VPN will link more than 100 travel agents with flexibility and scalability to meet the requirements of Softlogic and Abacus. The IP VPN will ensure network reliability, continuity and security for the travel industry at large.

Under the contract, SLT will provide core network management as well as flexible access options and multiple service levels to match varying needs of the travel industry. There will be full interoperability between the IP VPN and existing network technology and equipment used by the travel industry to minimize disruption and cost.

Apart from this network, SLT operates two more VPN networks within the Softlogic Group, which are Softlogic Communications Softlogic International connecting seven, and four branches respectively.

Sri Lanka Telecom is one of the country's most valuable blue-chip companies with an annual turnover in excess of Rs.30 billion.
