Over sixty golfers in action today

GOLF: Over sixty golfers will vie for honours at the eight
round of the Lectra Golf Championship organized by the Victoria Golf and
Country Resort and sponsored by Apparel Technologies (Pvt) Limited
agents for Lectra France which will be worked off at the picturesque
Victoria Golf course at Rajawella today with the first tee off at 7 a.m.
The afternoon tee off will be at 1.30 p.m.
Among the men some of the top golfers who are expected show their
mettle are in from Ian Tait, young Binupa Wijesinghe, Srinivas Rao,
Nimal Wettimuni, Sidath Wettimuni, Chamil Wickramasinghe, Priath
Fernando, Sidath and Sampath Hemachandra, Sam Gunaratne, Anel de Silva,
Tony Withan Klaes Rasmussen, Bo Lindberg, Rolf Tibblin, Majeed Awn,
Rohan J Perera and Sam Gunaratne.
Ladies who are expected to shine are Niloo Jayatillake, Maleena Awn,
Manori Jayakoddy, Suwen Selvaratnam, Ina Rasmussen, Anno Anngood, Indira
Tiblin, Sonya Boylo, Sandie McAndrew, Dhanushi Senadheera, Anusha
Senadeera, Roshni Sangani and many others.
Ian Tait is in the lead in the Mens Gross Division followed by Binupa
Wijesinghe in the second slot. In the competition for Mens Nett Division
Priath Fernando is loading with 812 points followed by Sidath
Hemachandra with 699 points.
Versatile and lissom Niloo Jayatillake appears to be having one horse
race in the two competitions for the ladies. She is leading the ladies
gross division with 82 points followed by Suwen Selvaratnam with 42
points. In the Ladies Nett Division too she is leading with 1075 points
followed by Maleena Awn with 800 points.
There was no competition last month due to a number of international
championships and the course was fully occupied. |
