'Thorathuru Nirathuru' workshop today
KANDY: The 'Thorathuru Nirathuru' one-day training workshop
for the journalists, jointly organized by the Ministry of Media and
Information and the Government Information Department will be conducted
today at Devon Hotel, Ampitiya Road, Kandy.
This is the 14th in a series of workshops conducted monthly. All
journalists in the Kandy District have been invited to attend the
occasion. Accordingly there will be 150 journalists attending the
seminar today.
Senior journalists Mohan Samaranayake, Edwin Ariyadasa, Dr.
Ariyaratne Ethugala, Gamini Sumanasekera, M.S.M. Ayub Khan, Lucien
Rajakarunanayake, Dr. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa and Jayantha Karunaratne
are the resource persons participating in the workshop.
The following are the topics that are expected to be touched upon at
this workshop: Correct news reporting and correct usage of the language
by Gamini Sumanasekera, Identification of the relevant news by Mohan
Samaranayake, Elementary principles involved in the use of the Camera in
news reporting by Jayantha Karunaratne, Media ethics and laws governing
journalism by Attorney-at-Law Asoka Serasinghe and Social
responsibilities of journalists by Dr. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa.
Future workshops in the series are scheduled to be conducted in the
Districts of Matale, Puttalam, Hambantota, Ampara, Batticoloa,
Trincomalee and Vavuniya.
The Workshop begins at 9.30 a.m. under the patronage of Media and
Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Central Province Governor
Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake. |
