Schenker in joint venture with StarTrans
JOINT VENTURE: Schenker has entered in to a joint venture with
StarTrans International, Hong Kong. StarTrans is a specialist for
airfreight in Asia-Pacific, on the Asia-USA route.
It is planned that Schenker will take over the majority in the joint
venture. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn AG already approved the
process.
With about 500 employees, StarTrans achieved annual sales of 200
million USD. Customers come from industries like apparel and toys and
from sectors like automotive and high-tech.
With the joint venture, Schenker will continue to expand its presence
in the growth markets. At the same time, the scope of logistics service
for special industry segments will be increased.
"Together with StarTrans, we will have a very competitive business
model for airfreight on the trans-Pacific route, in one of the fastest
growing markets", said Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, as member of the Board of
Management of Schenker AG responsible for the Air and Seafreight
Operations.

forwarding globally and will bring Schenker and StarTrans to new heights
of success." said Eddie Yau, Chairman StarTrans.
With annual sales of eight billion euros, 39,000 employees and about
