Spectacular motoring event
AUTOCROSS: The Land Rover Autocross 2006 organised by the Land Rover
Owners Club (LROC) and sponsored by Frontier Automotive, sole agents for
Land Rover in Sri Lanka on Sunday February 26 at Waters Edge, promises
to be not just a spectacular motoring event but a day out for the family
as well.
According to LROC President Manjula Seelanathakuruppu, "entries were
sold out in just 2 days which shows that there is a huge demand for
events of this nature."
Land Rover Autocross 2006 is limited to just 30 entries and will be
based on timings and points given for special tasks, while the track
will comprise deep water wading, mud ruts, axle twisters, and steep
climbs and descents. The event is open to all 4 x 4 manufactures and
will test the technical driving skills and allround prowess of the
participating drivers.
The public too can view this event and tickets will be available at
the Gate. Refreshments too will be on sale and this promises to be a day
of fun for the whole family.
Some of the participating drivers are Osanda Maligaspe (veteran off
road driver - Driving a special Defender Bowler), Captain Themiya
Abeywickrama (competitor who has won several events), Ravi Mayadunne (an
experienced autocross driver), Deepthi Perera (driving a Wrangler), as
well as many more motor enthusiasts, both professionals as well as
novices. |
