The ethnic conflict: tasks ahead
The Geneva conference which is largely a result
of President Mahinda Rajapakse's bold leadership is of historic
significance. This conference is confronted with a duel challenge:
strengthening the ceasefire agreement of 2002 and, much more
importantly, pointing the way towards lasting ethnic peace.

Public endorsement of ceasefire talks
The Government and the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam are to resume talks today in Geneva after almost a three
year lull on the peace front. Talks would be focused on
strengthening the ceasefire, which brought about a degree of
normalacy to our war-affected country.
