Jana Sevana housing loan programme commences
COLOMBO: 'Jana Sevana - houses for 1000 families', implemented under
the Jana Sevana Housing Project of the Mahinda Chinthana concept will be
launched in all parts of the country including North and East from
February 26,.
The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) will implement this
programme which would be completed by the end of June.
The NHDA will provide a Rs. 50,000 loan for each of the 1000
householder families. Within the next few days the NHDA will identify
the beneficiary families of this programme.
Prior to the above programme, the NHDA launched the "Jana Sevana -
Grant Housing Programme" in 12 administrative districts of the island
considering the poverty stricken districts. This programme was
implemented in Matale, Galle, Hambantota, Vavuniya, Ampara, Kurunegala,
Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Moneragala and Ratnapura.
The NHDA has provided a Rs. 50,000 grant together with roofing sheets
for each householder and most of these householders have completed the
basic construction work to-date.
The NHDA has targeted to complete this Jana Sevana Grant Housing
Programme by March 15 and ownership of these houses will be handed over
on March 18. |
