North and East calm, says SLMM
COLOMBO: The situation in the North and East is calm and quiet
and there are no incidents, a Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM)
spokesperson said.
SLMM Chief Hagrup Haukland visited Batticaloa and Trincomalee on
Wednesday and Thursday to study on the current situation.
Unlike the situation three weeks ago, day-today activities in the
region has returned to normal. The SLMM Chief also meet the government
officials and the LTTE area leaders in Batticaloa and Trincomalee.
"Everyone in the region is looking forward to the Geneva talks, like
others in the rest of the country," the SLMM spokesperson added. |
