Nominate a representative for talks, President tells Muslim parties
COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapakse has requested all Muslim
political parties to nominate a member to represent the Muslim community
at the ceasefire talks to be held in Geneva on February 22 and 23, a
Government Information Department release said yesterday.
President Rajapakse made this request from Muslim political parties
when party representatives met him at Temple Trees on Thursday.
The President had told Muslim representatives that the Government's
intention was to usher an honourable peace to all communities through
the peace process.
He pointed out to party representatives that the Government considers
the Muslim community as partners and beneficiaries of the Government's
peace process and requested them to nominate a Muslim to represent at
the talks. |
