Muslims demonstrate over Prophet's cartoons

COLOMBO: Muslims throughout the country staged protest demonstrations and processions yesterday after Friday prayers against the Danish newspaper cartoon on Prophet Mohammed.

Thousands of Muslims participated in the protest opposite the Jumma Mosque, Maradana.

Several Muslim religious organisations and students' associations took part in the protest.

The protest was organised by the Muslim United Liberation Front.

The protesters carrying placards, shouted slogans condemning the controversial cartoon.
