New Chairman - NIBM
P. G. RUPASINGHE has been appointed as the new chairman of the
National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), the leader in business
education. Rupasinghe hails from Maratota Pelmadulla.
He was educated at Dharmaraja Vidyalaya Moratota, Vidyakara Maha
Vidyalaya Openayake and, Gankanda, Central College, Pelmadulla. He has
earned his Bachelor of Economics (Special) Degree and PG Diploma in
Statistics from University of Sri Jayawardenapura and MBA from the PIM.
He has wide experience in Developments, Savings and Branch Banking,
Consultancy, Micro and Macro Economic Research. He was consultant,
Industrial Development Authority, Western Province.
He started his career as a researcher at Marga Institute, National
Savings Bank and finally at DFCC Bank, where he was employed for 23
years prior to his retirement.
Another two major tasks he carried out at DFCC Bank were, preparation
of a feasibility report on "Vehicle Village" of which the First Stage,
the new car numbering project was implemented in the year 2000 and
Portfolio Analysis of DFCC Bank to facilitate its assets management in
1999 and 2000.
He is a visiting lecturer in Economics, Accounting, Human Resource
Management and Organizational Behaviour for Post Graduate Students at
The Open University of Sri Lanka.
He received his professional training Management, Development Banking
and Project Management in Phillipines, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and
Thailand, which were sponsored by Asian Institute of Management, EDI of
World Bank, UNIDO, UNDP, ADFIAP, ADB etc.
He is a social worker and a sportsman, he was the Chairman, National
Organizing Committee of Golden Jubilee TT Championship-1996 and Chief
Secretary, All Island Central College PPA, a Life Member of Economists'
Association of Sri Lanka, PIM and AIM Alumni, United Nations Association
of Sri Lanka, "Shanthi Foundation" and Maharagama Vajiragnana Buddhist
Society. He is also an All-Island Justice of the Peace. |
