Appeal Court upholds high court verdict
BY NELKA Medagedera
THE Court of Appeal yesterday rejected the petition of appeal against
the acquittal of former UNP Minister S. B. Dissanayake.
The Court of Appeal held that the High Court Judge's decision to
acquit and discharge Dissanayake on the ground of failure on the part of
the Prosecution to prove the charges due to insufficient evidence was
correct and in conformity with the law.
The Court of Appeal decision was pronounced by Justice Jagath
Balapatabendi with Justice Eric Basnayaka agreeing. |
