Air Force Cyclists for 'Tour of Thailand'
The Sri Lanka Air Force cycling team flew to Thailand on Jan. 22, to
ride along side the champion riders of Asia, in the tour of Thailand
2006. Air Force team which comprises top Sri Lankan riders left for
Thailand on an invitation from the Thai Cycling Association. The
invitation was the result of the recognition of the performance during
2005, where the Sri Lanka Air Force riders won 9 races out of the 12 Sri
Lanka ranked races.

The SLAF team comprises Balachandra Henry, Gamini Indralal, Sujith
Silva, Anil Silva, Janaka Sumithkumar (Capt), Amal Suranga, Samantha
Lakmal, Former veteran SLAF rider Anil Silva, accompanied the team as
coach while Wing Commander Nalin Jayetilake (Secretary SLAF Cycling) is
the manager of the team.
The Tour of Thailand which commenced yesterday will continue till Jan
29.
The riders are expected to cover a distance of 1,100 km during the
period of Six days. The riders commence the race from Chiang Mai and
will finish in Bangkok on Jan 29 after riding the full distance. |
