Minor staffer threatens health flying squad

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry is planning tough action
against a health employee cum trade union leader who had threatened the
Ministry's flying squad officials while on an inspection of the Accident
Service of the Colombo National Hospital.
On Monday night, the flying squad officials were conducting a sudden
inspection in the CNH's Accident Service, following complaints against
minor staff.
"The incident occurred around 10.00 pm and this trade union leader
belonging to the minor staff is alleged to have attempted to assault the
flying squad officials," a Ministry spokesman told the Daily News.
He said the unionist has been taken into Police custody.Besides,
flying squad officials are complaining that the doctors who on duty at
the Accident Service had refused to present their duty diary for
inspection, spokesman noted.
Officials also detected several minor staff employees who had gone
out of the hospital after singing in the official attendance registry
which has gone missing since Monday night.
On hearing this, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has vowed to take
tough action against those responsible.Earlier, the Health Ministry
announced that stern action will be taken against State health sector
employees who fail to provide a proper service at their respective
institutions.
The Ministry requests the public to make their complaints to the
Ministry on any irregularities or neglect of services by the health
employees. The public are requested to make their complaints directly to
