FCCISL President welcomes all party peace talks

President FCCISL Nawaz Rajabdeen welcomed the all party conference held in Colombo last week. All parties should talk in one voice for a peaceful settlement and should build confidence among the minorities' parties and discuss all matters on a common platform without discussing secretly for their own benefit', he said in a press release.

The FCCISL President hailed the courageous stand taken by the leader of the opposition to facilitate the peace process with the other ethnic parties showing the commitments for peace and showing the true spirit of leadership at a time of need in the interest of the country.

At this point of time confidence building with the northern cardres is more important than discussing peace. Every successive government has created doubt in the name of peace with northern cardres and confused the peace process to such an extent that more sympathisers rally round the northern fighters.

'It is sad minority parties in the Eastern province have divided to number of ethnic parties for their own benefit and work with different agendas for their personal gain. Every section of the parties wants to be the leader in the peace process as a result they have betrayed the masses in the Eastern province.

This is very clear that after the tsunami a large number of displaced persons have not benefited as a result of conflicts among the parties in the Eastern block.

'We congratulate President Mahinda Rajapakse for inviting all the parties to discuss the current issues and to find a peaceful solution and a better formula acceptable to all parties so that no party can blame one another after the final decision is made.

We are sure that the Northern cardres will discuss the peace process if sincere approach is made by all parties to find a peaceful solution in the interest of the country.

'We thank the Leader of the Opposition and the minority parties for discussing on a common platform taking the peace process forward with the slogan', Rajabdeen said.
