The institute offers numerous unmatched courses by giving opportunities in management and IT education in Sri Lanka. It conducts courses for all sectors which has a high employability and demand in Sri Lanka and also in overseas as well.

The courses that are conducted by the institute are computer-based information, business management, marketing management, public relations, supply management, structural engineering service marketing and many more. Its charges are quite competitive and reasonable for Sri Lankans, he said.

According to Dr Weerasinghe more than 1,500-2,000 qualify in different fields for a year and it has courses from certificate level to graduate level. All courses are conducted by qualified professionals in the country, who are mostly university lecturers.

"The stability of being a government institute and the customer driven philosophy of the private sector which we have adopted means that well recognised qualifications at reasonable cost are being offered to the employed as well as to school leavers to obtain the knowledge as well as the practical aspects needed for professional and personal development," he said.

In the area of IT they offer a BSc in MIS in collaboration with the University of Ireland, a Higher Diploma in Computer Systems Design, a Diploma in Computer Systems Design and many certificate courses to cater to different needs as well as to ensure students with lesser entry qualifications are able to work towards a well recognised degree in MIS from Europe.

In the field of management and productivity, the NIBM offers the mature and employed student the opportunity to obtain well recognised qualifications in diverse fields through the twelve diploma programs in the English and Sinhala media as well as the numerous certificate and short term courses available.

We also cater to specific needs of the industry through customised training programmes and through constancy assignments. NIBM is also in the process of negotiating with universities to provide more new programmes to local students.

Their main campus in Colombo and their regional centers in Kandy and Kurunegala ensure that quality training is available through NIBM to a wider range and a greater number of their students.

NIBM which has been operating in Kandy since 1996 moved to a new location at 30, Colombo Street, Kandy.

This fully air conditioned, newly constructed centre which commands a panoramic view of Kandy including the Dalada Maligawa, is equipped with a modern computer lab and classroom facilities to cater to more than 300 students at a time.

The central location of the building, which is walking distance to the bus terminus, enables students from the Kandy District and beyond to access the centre via public transport easily. It has an advisory committee to change course structures based on the local and international standards.

The Kandy Centre offers IT and management courses to school leavers as well as to mature, employed students. The NIBM looks towards the future with excitement, hope and optimism and invites professionals to build competencies.
