Navy morale high - Commander

NAVY Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda reiterated that despite the recent attacks on sailors in Mannar, Trincomalee and Jaffna the morale of the Navy was very high. Karannagoda told the Daily News following the recent LTTE attacks against Navy personnel in the North and East, he visited all key Naval installations and instructed to tackle the LTTE threats.

Floods as tanks spill over

SEVERAL reservoirs and tanks spilled over during the last few days causing minor floods and disrupting road traffic in the wake of torrential rains which lashed many parts of the country. The most significant of these is the spill over of the Parakrama Samudraya in Polonnaruwa which cut off traffic between Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa.

Ten year tax holiday for 300 factory programme

The Government's 300 factories Programme, to bring investment into the regions creating employment opportunities would be launched on January 24. This is one of the main objectives in the "Mahinda Chinthanaya", and it would be launched in 300 divisional secretariats across the island.
