Italians equip 89 Health Care Centres in Galle

EIGHTY NINE Health Care Centres, fully equipped with the latest technology machines, such as X-Ray machines, ECG machines, beds, computers, and refrigeration units, were donated by the Italian Government organisation called the "Civil Society" were installed in the Galle district recently in DS Divisions of Hikkaduwa, Ambalangoda, Balapitiya, Bentara-Elpitiya, Divitura, Velivitiya, Baddegama and Galle.

This project was co-ordinated by the Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and the keys and the inventries were handed over to the Southern Province Governor, Kingsley T. Wickremaratne, since the Health Care Centres are coming under the jurisdiction of the Southern Provincial Council.

Present on the occasion were, the Health Director General, Health Ministry Kahanda Liyanage and the SPC Health Services Director, S. Pathiratna, Balapitiya DMO, A. W. A. S. Piyaratne and also the Cultural Affairs Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane.

After being opened by the Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, the SPC Governor Wickremaratne and Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane, a meeting was held at Balapitiya Health Centre chaired by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
