MAS Holdings creates an upset

Newcomers MAS Holdings created a major upset when they defeated Dialog Telekom 'B' by 40 points to 29 points in their Delmege Super League Mercantile 'C' division basketball tournament match played at the Otters Aquatic Club courts yesterday.

The winners built up a close 19-15 lead at half time with S. Indika (11) and E. Weerasinghe (12) doing the scoring. C. Karunanayake (12) and G. Ekanayake (10) excelled for Dialog Telekom.

Meanwhile David Pieris Motor Company Limited trounced Union Assurance Limited 64-39 after leading 38-19 at half time in a 'B' division tournament fixture.

A. Jayaweera (17), P. Munasinghe (15) and S. Perera (11) had a good game for David Pieris while A. Wickremage (11) and T. Fernando (15) were outstanding for Union Assurance. (C.D.)
