Maharoof abused in foul language

Melbourne, Thursday -

An ugly incident took place during the Sri Lanka, Victoria Bushrangers practice game at the Central Reserve Ground in Glenn Waverly on Wednesday when Farveez Maharoof was dismissed and walking back to the pavilion.

A spectator, obviously a Sri Lankan domiciled down under pushed a side some spectators and waited until Maharoof was reaching the pavilion and let Maharoof have it in the worst possible four letter word.

The other Lankan spectators were shocked at the behavior of this individual who was probably after one too many and was apparently out of his senses.

Maharoof did not retaliate and walked in without a murmur and did not mention it to any of the Sri Lankan officials.

The tirade was heard by some of the other Sri Lankan cricketers.

When I brought this incident to the notice of Team Manager Michael Tissera he questioned Maharoof and wanted to know why he did not bring the incident to his notice.

Tissera told that had Maharoof informed him he would have moved in and got the authorities to deal with this undesirable who was a disgrace to all Sri Lankans.
