B. R. Perera chairman Maga Neguma Companies

On the recommendation of President, Minister of Road Development T. B. Ekanayaka has appointed B. R. Perera as Chairman of Maga Neguma Road Construction and Equipment Company (Pvt) Ltd, Maga Neguma Emulsion Production Company (Pvt) Ltd and Maga Neguma Consultancy and Project Management Company (Pvt) Ltd with effect from January 01.

The above three companies which were closed down by the previous government in year 2003 were revived when Maga Neguma concept was introduced in 2004 by President Mahinda Rajapakse then as Prime Minister and Minister of Highways with the intention of developing the Road Network in Sri Lanka.

Perera was the Chairman of Maga Neguma Emulsion Production Company in 2004 and within a short period of time has transformed the company to a profit making concern.

The President has given the responsibility of leading the other two companies as well to show his capabilities as a manager and administrator.

Perera, an engineer by profession has worked for many private companies in managerial capacity. He has also been working for National Aquaculture Development Authority as Chairman when President Mahinda Rajapakse was the Minister of Fisheries.

Perera is an old boy of Thurstan College, Colombo, where he plays an active roll in the Old Boys' Union.
