Zoological gardens to become safari park

The Zoological Gardens will be reconstructed as Safari Parks of international standard to attract local and foreign tourists, said Botanical and Zoological Gardens Promotion Minister Bandula Basnayake. He made his first inspection visit to the Zoological Gardens, Dehiwala, recently and discussed its future development programme and paid attention to existing shortcomings.

After inspection he addressed a meeting held at the Garden Auditorium. He also said that his Ministry office will be open for the Zoological Gardens employees to discuss their problems and grievances on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Brigadier H.A.N.T. Perera, Deputy Directress Y.D.S.S. Malsinghe, Ministry Additional Secretary W.M. Jayawardena Land Co-ordinating Secretary J.B. Jayasekera joined the Minister on this occasion.
