Dissanayake, President World Fellowship of Buddhists, Sri Lanka
D.M. Jayathilake Dissanayake, Attorney-at-Law, has been elected as
the President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists-Sri Lanka Regional
Centre for the year 2005/2006. He was the Deputy President of the Centre
in 2004.
Prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Education Service, he held
the positions of Education Director, Uva Province and thereafter as the
Director in charge of National Schools in the Education Ministry. He was
the President of the All Ceylon Past Pupils' Association of Central
Colleges, 1995 to 1997.
Born in Hela Alugolla village in the Badulla District and studied at
Lunuwatte Vidyalaya and Welimada Central College respectively, he
graduated from Vidyalakara University and later obtained his Post
Graduate Diploma and Diploma in Public Administration from the same
university. He also received his Masters in Education from University of
Colombo. later, obtained the LL.B from Open University.
He is a lecturer and a versatile writer. He has authored several
books to his credit in different subject matters. He represented Sri
Lanka at the World Fellowship of Buddhists annual conferences held in
the Asian Region. |
