Elephant tusks seized from man

The Army on the look out for lethal cargo in the Eastern Province arrested a man attempting to get away with a pair of elephant tusks at Senkalady in the Batticaloa area yesterday.

Army personnel manning the 'Black Bridge' check point at Senkalady seized the pair of tusks from Podiappu Latha Anton who had hidden them in a fertiliser bag.

The suspect was handed over to Eravur Police by the Army.

Investigations are continuing.
