Aluth Sahal Mangallaya today

The annual Aluth Sahal Mangallaya, one of the significant rituals of the Dalada Maligawa and the four main Devales connected to the Kandy Perahera will be held today.

This is one of the four main rituals of the Dalada Maligawa conducted on Duruthu Full Moon Poya day every year.

New rice collected from the harvest of the Dalada Maligawa paddy lands and stored at Pallekele Atuwa (paddy stores) will be divided among the Maligawa and Devales and distributed to those places. Of this, 80 serus of rice will be used to cook the dana which will be offered to the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Dalada Maligawa.
