CIMA joins Janashakthi to hold Pinnacle Awards 2005

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka Division and Janashakthi Insurance Co Ltd have once again tied up to launch CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards 2005 for the third consecutive year.

This event recognises business excellence, leadership, management and teamwork at the highest standards and rewards excellence in professionalism amongst the cream of country's business community, CIMA-President Lalith Fonseka said.

He said that Chartered Management Accountants are highly regarded for their business, management and accounting competence, their professional standards and the positive contribution they make to commercial like.

CIMA aims to promote and develop the science of management accountancy, building on our recognition as the authoritative voice on financial and business management issues in its chosen markets, he said. "This award ceremony gives a motivating boost to those who are aspiring to one day be top players in the business world,"he said.

Janashakthi Managing Director Chandra Schaffter commenting on the move of the company's strategic tie up with CIMA said that CIMA is considered a partnership between two professionals. "We consider this a social responsibility of ours and we are working towards inculcating professionalism in the corporate sector, at the corporate as well as individual level," he said.

Chairman of the Pinnacle Awards Committee Aravinda Perera said that the event would recognise aspiring CIMA members who are going to be future business leaders and to facilitate their careers based not only on their academic achievement but also of other individual personality characteristics.

Perera said that the objective was to promote today's financial managers as future business leaders, creative entrepreneurs and most sought after employers.

He added that out of the four awards, Business Leader of the Year Chief Financial Officer are open to the members of the public whilst the other two, Young CIMA Star and Business Manager of the Year awards are applicable only to CIMA members, he said.

At present CIMA represents over 78,000 registered students and over 61,000 members in 156 countries worldwide. This competition applies only to Sri Lankan residents and will be held on March 28, 2006 at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo.
