US$ 5 million loan for LOLC

LOLC was the first to receive a loan of US $ 5 Million from Proparco, a subsidiary of Group Agence Francaise De Development (AFD), dedicated to financing private companies. Proparco is confident the tie up with LOLC would broaden the scope of its business within the area of financing and would be able to develop an impressive international partnership.


Director LOLC Kalsha Amerasinghe, Resident Representative, French Development Agency - French Embassy Jean-Bernard Maucor, Deputy Chairman LOLC Ishara Nanayakkara and Economic and Commercial Counsellor, French Embassy for Maldives and Sri Lanka Hubert Colaris at the signing of the agreement.

Deputy Chairman of LOLC Ishara Nanayakkara said that the funds would be ploughed back for economic and social projects, in tsunami devastated areas, in particular.

He went on to say that they were extremely pleased to start a partnership with Proparco and will strengthen our relationship with them which would benefit the economy at large.

The signing ceremony of the agreement took place at the LOLC Head Office.
