Seylan Bankers win

Seylan Bank powered their way to register a rousing 61 points to nine points victory over SriLankan Airlines in the curtain raiser of the Delmege Super League Mercantile basketball tournament women's 'A' division match played at the Otters Aquatic Club courts yesterday.

Seylan Bank took a commanding 18 nil lead at half time with Premila Fernando (12), Inoka Sandamali (10) and B. Sanduni leading the way. The other two teams competing in the women's 'A' division tournament are David Pieris Motor Company Limited and Hatton National Bank who are making a comeback after a lapse of two years.

Meanwhile the important men's 'A' division tournament will begin today with Sampath Bank 'A' taking on Dialog Telekom 'A' at 7.00 p.m. Before that Ceylinco 'B' will meet DFCC Vardana Bank in a men's 'D' division tournament fixture at 6.00 p.m.

The tournament is conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by Delmege Forsyth Group for the third successive year.
