Indo-Lanka motor races in Coimbatore

THE Asian Motor Racing Club is planning to hold an Indo-Sri Lanka race in Coimbatore on February 5 with Indian drivers competing with their Sri Lankan counterparts on Indian Formula LGB cars.

Sri Lanka will field ten drivers in the 1400 cc (85 BHP) event with identical cars to that used by the Indians.

The selected drivers are due to arrive on February 2 and use February 3 and 4 for practice/training.

The total cost for each participant is Rs. 65,000 which includes return air ticket, surface transport from Trichi airport to Coimbatore and back, three nights hotel stay on twin sharing BB basis, complimentary lunch at the race meet (dinner not included), and transport from hotel to track and back on three days.

The AMRC is also extending some form of sponsorship the details of which will be known later. In the event there are more that 10 drivers, there will be two races on the basis of two drivers sharing one car.

The Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) has recognised this event and agreed to grant national colours, states a AMRC media release.
