Shooting at Wellawatte:

Suspects remanded till Monday
 

THREE suspects produced before Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi in connection with the shooting incident near Ramakrishna Road, Wellawatte on Thursday night were remanded till Monday.

Wellawatte Police yesterday produced the three suspects, a Soldier and two constables attached to Kohuwela Police before the Chief Magistrate.

Following the shooting incident, Prof. Rajendran Nadarajah, a resident of South Africa, was seriously injured. At the time of the incident the vehicle was driven by Dr. Chandra Fernando, brother-in-law of former JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera.

Colombo South SP Cyril Fernando is directing investigations assisted by Chief Inspector Nihal Mendis, OIC, Wellawatte police, Inspector Deepthi Abeyweera, OIC, CDB Wellawatte Police and SI Punchi Banda of Wellawatte Police.
