Dushanthi

D.P.A. Dushanthi, a Grade 6 student of Sri Revata Kanista Vidyalaya, Kaikawala, Induruwa is suffering from a nerves trouble. Consultant ENT Surgeon Dr. Devanand Jha of Apollo Hospitals has recommended surgery for a Cochlear Implant.

The surgery is estimated to cost between Rs. 2.3 million to Rs. 2.7 million. Dushanthi's father D.P. Pushpakumara appeals for public help.

Dr. Prasad K., consultant cardiac surgeon, Apollo hospitals has advised him an urgent surgery to be cost Rs. 600,000. Anti-WTO demonstration

THE National Forum against ill-effects of World Trade Organisation (WTO) has organised a protest campaign to oppose the arrest of anti-WTO activists on January 9, which is the day declared as the Anti-WTO Day.

The demonstrators will hand over a petition in this regard to the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka. "Down with Neo Liberalism", "Life is not for sale", "Stop pawning world to market" and "No room to plunder life for profit" are some of the slogans among protesters against the World Trade Organisation.
