Wealth of knowledge at seminar - Additional Magistrate
 

A TEAM of lawyers and legal personalities including Chairmen of 21 labour tribunals who attended training workshop and seminar held in New Delhi, India from December 19 to 30 last year under a programme sponsored by the World Bank returned to the Island recently.

Their tour was arranged during the year end Courts vacation to ensure that it did not delay the hearing of labour tribunal cases.

Chairman of the Colombo Labour Tribunal (No. 2) and Additional Magistrate Deepthi Guruge who was a member of the team said the New Delhi workshop and seminar addressed by eminent lecturers including several Indian legal experts provided them with a wealth of knowledge and experience including strategies for solving problems faced in the administration of labour laws.

They also had the opportunity to visit the Central Labour Tribunal in New Delhi and meet its Chairman and observe its proceedings.
