Minister meets Veddha community leaders

Leader of the Veddha community Vanniyalaaththo, requested the Labour Relations and Foreign Employment Minister, Athauda Senaviratne at a discussion held in Mahiyanganaya recently to put forward their problems to the President and provide relief to their grievances.

He stated that although the past leaders were informed of their problems, nobody came forward to provide any solution. However he said that he believed that President Rajapakse would do them justice.

"There are 14 villages where we live. We are unable to go for hunting because many forest areas such as Rantambe, Victoria, Randenigala have been made reservoirs, we cannot do farming for living he said. He added that travelling was difficult due to poor condition of roads.

He requested the Minister to provide school facilities to their children, as they like to study. The Minister promised that he would apprise the President about all these issues and would pave the way to have a discussion with the President.
