President orders inquiry into A/L question paper errors

THE Government Information Department in a media release yesterday (January 01) disclosed that parents of some students who sat the last G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination have complained to President Mahinda Rajapakse when he was at Kandy and Tangalle that due to some computer error a great injustice has occurred to their children in respect of the marking relating to a multiple choice question paper.

Investigations have revealed that this error may adversely affect a certain group of candidates directly. Accordingly the President has directed the authorities concerned to inquire this aspect thoroughly and submit to him a full report without delay.

Accordingly the President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga has instructed the Education Ministry Secretary and the Commissioner General of Education to re-examine all the multi-choice question papers relating to the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agriculture and take necessary steps not to cause any injustice to the students at this examination which is a turning point in their life.

The President's Secretary has also called for a full report on this matter from the Commissioner General of Examinations.
